Hemi-Sync® is a patented audio guidance technology that works quite simply by sending different sounds (tones) to each ear through stereo headphones. The two hemispheres of the brain then act in unison to “hear” a third signal – the difference between the two tones. The heart of The Monroe Institute programs is the Gateway Voyage®. This six-day intensive, experiential learning adventure is a prerequisite for a number of graduate programs. The Gateway Voyage provides tools that enable: development and exploration of human consciousness; deeper levels of self-discovery; expansion of one's awareness; willful control of that awareness; communication with and visits to other energy systems and realities.

Guidelines® offers still another step in the development of more complete understanding of self. In addition to exploration of your Total Self and creating an ongoing communication with your Inner Self Helper (ISH), the program gives direct training in the early stages of Out of Body training. This is the only Institute program that specifically provides these methods. Training in using a special dolphin energy--either individually or in a group--to heal both self and others is also an aspect of Guidelines.

Lifeline is a multi-faceted six-day graduate program that provides access to states of consciousness beyond those experienced in the Gateway Voyage and Guidelines programs. Its primary emphasis is one of service - service to those here in physical matter reality and service to those There who have made the transitions from the physical and who may benefit from assistance.
